현대미술의 시대적 양상을 단적으로 말한다면, 그에 대해 다소라도 지식이나 교양이 있는 사람이면 누구나 말할 수 있듯이 순수한
추상주의 미학의 다 양하보편적인 확산과 그에 대립되게 현실적 존재를 직접 혹은 간접으로 주제와 내용을 삼으면서 창의적인 변용
또는 조형적 재구성으로 창조적 표현을 실현키는 구상주의의 다양한 내면으로 압축할 수 있을 것이다. 작가 개개인의 삶의 체험 속에서
축적되고 형성된 개인적 정서나 상상력의 심상주의, 환 상주 또는 초현실주의 등도 모두 종래의 재현직인 사실주의 내지 자연주의를
벗어난 자유로운 미술 창조로 현대성을 갖는 것이다.
'미술은(모든 다른 예술도) 역사적으로 계속 변해 왔다' 는 어느 미
술 전문서의 제목처럼 현대미술도 그렇게 그 이전 시대와 다른
새로운 양상이 주류형성한 것이다.
따라서 21세기에 접어든 현재의 시점에서는 또 다른 새로운 미술동향이 물밑으로 배태되고 있음이 분명하다. 이는 필연적인 일이다.

모든 예술가는 자연스럽게 시대를 반영하는 작품활동으로 전통을 변전시킨다.근래에 내가 주목한 여성화가인 박광자의 회화작업에도
그러한 현대적 요소가 그의 방법으로 밀착돼 있다. 그것은 그의 예술감각과 표현정신의 시대성 발현된 것이다. 그는 의지가 있는
화가로서 자신의 창작성을 확실하게 부각시키기 위해 부단한 시도와 탐구적인 추구를 거듭해 왔음이 예전 작품들에확인된다. 지금도
그러한 독자성의 시도와 탐구는 진행되고 있는 듯이 보인다.

여성적인 심성과 감성 및 매우 밀도 있는 조형적 상상력으로 전 개시키고 있는 근래의 박광자의 화면들은 서두에서 언급한 현대미술의
보편적 흐름 추상 . 구상의 상반된 내면성을 서로 별도의 대립관계가 아닌 정감적 합치와 상호조화로 조합하는 방법으로 자신의 회화를
창작하는 방향을 취하고 있어 개인전에서 보게 되는 그 근작들도 역시 지속적 변화의 진행성을 내포하고 있음이 느껴진다.초기 작품에서는
이 여성작가도 대다수의 화가들처럼 평온하고 서정적인 시각으로 자연미의 정취와 그 변화의 현장감이나 감흥을, 또는 온갖 색상과
모의 아름다움을 갖는 화초 등을 생동적으로 표현하려고 한 과정을 가졌다.

그러다가 차차 자유로운 심상 표현으로 전환해 갔다. 여러 생김새의 물고기들 깊은
물 속 같은 청회색 조의 상황 분위기 속에 비사실적인 움직임으로 등장하는가 하면, 그 상황에 느닷없이 생생한 꽃송이 또는 트럼펫이며
기타 등 악기가 도입하는 식의 환상적인 표현이 시도 되었다.
그리고 다시 새로운 변화를 나타낸 것이 앞에 말한 추상과 구상의 합치 내지 조화를 지향한 근래의 수법이다. 이 근작들에는 여러 형식의
표현을 동시줄기며 그 조화의 묘미 있는 성과에 스스로 충족 감을 느끼려는 듯한 면이 좀 혼똴스럽게 드러나 있기도 하지만, 한 화가의
예술적 의욕인 바에는 자연스럽보아도 무방하다.
박광자의 최근 작품들에서 살펴지는 구체적인 주제 요소로는 생동적이고 선명한 색상의
각종 꽃과 나비와 평화로운 자연계의 이미지로 등장시키는 비둘기공작새의 출현 등을 엿볼 수 있다. 게다가 작가가 일상적인 생활 속에
항시 즐기고 좋아한다는 음악과의 남다른 친밀관계를 시사하며, 그 무형의 아름 다음 악도 화면에 담고 싶은 마음을 반영시킨 바이올린과
첼로 등 현악기와 악보 또는 피아노 건반의 단면적인 도입이 정감 집고 환상적인 화면구성 속에 겹지며 독특하고 복합적인 표현감정을
나타내고 있다.그런가 하면, 그 화면구성을 평면적이고 직선적인 형태의 자유로운 분할구조 속에 중복시키면서 욕심스럽고 그러면서 매우
다감한 작가의 표현의7더욱 심층적으로 결합시키고 있다.

But she gradually moved to more abstracdfree expression 0f images. For

appear a bunch 0f flowers and musical instruments such as trumpet and
so 0n.Thus she tried to express allusion or dream.And from there, she
came to her recent way 0f expression that abstrachon and figurahve arts
